Julia Mebane

Lecturer

Julia Mebane received her PhD from the Program in the Ancient Mediterranean World at the University of Chicago in 2017. Her research explores the intersection of Roman political thought and Latin literature, particularly how political ideas are expressed and communicated in texts that fall outside the canonical bounds of political theory. The transition to from the republic to principate, the tropes of civil war, and the reception of classical antiquity in Victorian historiography are her current areas of interest.
