Makenzie Read

As a graduate student in the Literature Department at UCSD, my research revolves around Literary theory, interdisciplinarity, and reflexive analytics. This is to say, I am interested in ways of thinking, collaborating, and confronting the self as participant in the meaning making process. Most frequently, I rely upon Literature from Ancient Greece, Modern Greece, and various World Receptions of “The Classics” to imagine reading and writing frameworks that might generate healing and freedom for scholars and students in the Humanities. To this end, I investigate theories of mind, discourse, self, temporality, and translation, placing a heavy focus on the contextualization of the individual reader.
